at twenty, venus sanders thought that she had it all figured out. she thought she knew right from wrong, real from imaginary, true from false. she walked around campus with her head held high. she was sure she didn't need anyone or anything to complete her, and relied solely on herself. alexander jones, however, was different. he was a hopeless romantic, and a cocky one at that. he believed he could get anyone, but don't mistake him for a whore. he believed in himself, and thought he could earn anything he pursued. but when he met venus, his views changed.
the two met in their debate class. i'm sure you can figure out how this worked out, as cliche as it may be. they were always arguing opposing points. although venus could not stand the sight of alexander, he wanted her, and he wanted her bad. in his eyes, she was mysterious and beaitiful, and all poor alexander wanted to do was figure her out. after class one day, he approached her and asked her to dinner with him the following night. he was rejected. routinely, he asked her to accompany him somewhere, and routinely, he was shot down. after about the tenth invitation, venus became so frustrated that she decided to accept, making him promise that he would leave her alone if she went on one lousy dinner date with him. and as much as she tried to not enjoy herself, she had a wonderful time. against her own stubborn personality, she agreed to go on one more date with him, and one more after that, and one more after that...you know what happened.
the two fell in love harder than a plane crash. one night, they made a decision that would later be looked upon as foolish and rushed. they decided to "make love" after they both had a little bit too much to drink. and, whaddya know, a few weeks later, venus was sitting him down and explaining to him that she had what would soon be a human baby in her womb. you're probably thinking that they were both extremely happy, right? wrong. in no way, shape, or form were the two excited or overjoyed to hear the news. yes, they loved eachother, but they were young, and they had lives ahead of them that they wanted to experience without dragging a child along with them. even though it was somewhat of a hard decision for them, they decided to give the baby up for adoption about four months into the pregnancy.
they weren't going to let any old loons adopt her though. they arranged meetings with several hopeful couples, and eventually, picked the two they thought would best bring up the child. they were a gay couple from tennesse. their names? vincent and phillip. they weren't too old to raise a baby, but they weren't too young to not know how. both were twenty-eight years young. one was finishing up medical school to become a pediatrician, and phillip planned to be a stay at home mother(or father, in this case). five months after the deal was made in that cold january, a healthy, beautiful baby girl was born. what they decided to name her? liliana faye. she took vincent's last name, rhodes. liliana faye rhodes, their little bundle of joy, would be raised in a clean, safe environment.
like her biological parents had hoped, liliana grew up a loved child. she was taught how to act and how to present herself. they disciplined her, but still let her have that little spark of a fire that seemed all too natural about her. at the ripe old age of four, the small family picked up and moved to arizona, due to discrimation from the community against their sexuality. they built up another life there, trying to make it as successful as they could. vincent worked at a nearby hospital while phillip stayed home and took care of little lily, their "sunshine." although i would love to say that lily lived without any bumps in her life road, i would be lying.
at fourteen, lily was consumed by a phase most teenagers go through. she turned into a rebelling brat, always going against her parents and running off and doing stupid things that she didn't know she was going to regret somewhere down the road. and why did this happen, you may ask? she thought she was in love. his name was zechariah. he was the district's "bad boy". he was a seventeen-year-old hottie who was clearly a bad influence on lily. he got her into drinking and partying. in her eyes, he was dark and mysterious, something that attracted her a lot. like many young girls, she thought he was the one(which was pathetic, as she now knows). this dark stage of her life went on for about a year until it became even darker. while at a party busted by the cops, the duo were caught with drugs in their system. after being bailed out of jail that night, phillip and vincent restricted lily from ever seeing him again, which was fine since the next morning, lily received a text saying that he no longer wanted to be associated with her. and, as you may be expecting, she was heartbroken and enveloped by depression.
the depression got so bad that her parents decided to get her a therapist. instead of her having to leave the house to go see him(no way would she do that), dr. hibbens would come to her. their therapy went on until she was sixteen, and he decided that she was no longer in need of his services. it took a while for her to open up, but soon enough, lily victoriously returned to her old self. she was smiling again, she stopped wearing dark as often, and she stopped partying. a few months after her depression spat her back out, lily received news that they were moving to seattle, which she actually was not opposed to. she had made a bad name for herself in arizona, and didn't necessarily have a lot of friends.
they were moving to seattle because of a job offer. vincent found out he could open up his own office there, and he would've been a fool not to take up that offer. so, for the second time in liliana's life, they made a big move. they rented a house in the heart of the city. at the same time, they bought liliana a house on the outskirts of town, with the shore as a backyard. of course, she did not immediately move into the house. after all, she was only sixteen. but a couple of months after her eighteenth birthday, she and a friend moved into the house, where she currently resides. liliana is attending the university and pursuing a career in law.

one thing was for sure, the malone boys sure knew how to treat a lady. ever since kendall had met two of the three young men, she had felt more special than ever. maybe that was because they both seemed to be talking to her endlessly and showering her with compliments, but she liked it. this pretty face had never received this much attention from more than one boy at a time, and it felt great. she wasn't trying to be promiscuous and she wasn't quite testing the waters purposely. she wanted to see which boy she liked more, since kendall did seem to have crushes on the both of them. who wouldn't, though? they both had charming looks with equally charming personalities. that was how kendall saw them anyway.
she had been at the gym when her phone had started to go off. she stopped taking her few frustrations out on a punching bag dangling from the ceiling to answer it, and it had happened to be gavin. he called her and asked her if she was free tonight, yadayadayada. you know, the basic way that guys ask girls on dates. the short of it was that kendall adams and gavin malone were going on a date, and a rather nice date at that. the sixteen year old had only been to misty's once before with her parents. it was for her fifteenth birthday, and she had loved the atmosphere. she looked at art and then lounged on a day bed on the roof. however, she had learned from a few of her friends that misty's during the day and misty's at night were too very different times. during the day, a small orchestra played soothing, classic music. but at night, everything got a little more saucy and romantic.
after eagerly agreeing to go on this date with gavin, she jumped down the stairs and ran to the locker room. once there, she had frantically called one of her close friends to ask her what she should wear. she had said something pretty, but not casual or too formal. so kendall had decided on a blue dress that wasn't too showy, and silver shoes. she wore matching accessories as well. the boxer had never really been on romantic dates before, and this would be her first one. she was in a panic the entire time she got ready back home. kendall was running around her house from the left side to the right side, tossing shoes and purses, trying to make the perfect outfit. her two fathers had helped her by giving her the thumbs up once she was done and complimenting her well. then about a half an hour after her hair was in place and looking perfect, gavin showed up at the front door to pick her up.
her friendly parents, michael and keith, had greeted him and warned him not to hurt her, but they did so in a very polite manner. unlike most teenagers, kendall wasn't embarrassed or ashamed of her two parents at all. they were her best friends -- and the provided her with a lot of shopping money. the car ride over wasn't awkward like kendall assumed it was going to be, and they had walked through the bottom floor of misty's together, looking at art that kendall wished to see. art always fascinated her. then the gentleman had escorted her upstairs and left her to grab them some daquiris. kendall did not care about if they would be alcohol free or not. unless he had some kind of fake identification, they would be.
the brunette was sitting on a comfortable couch, her thin legs crossed. she observed as couples danced around the floor, her eyes occasionally lifting to look at the pretty lights that hung above her. after a few moments of sitting there and taking deep breaths, kendall stood up and glided towards a side of the roof. she let her hands rest on the brick wall that kept anybody from running off, and she basked in the beauty of the city from her view. when she felt someone nudge her arm gently, she turned gracefully and smiled when she saw gavin. she took the drink he offered her and sipped, then nodded. "thank you, handsome." she said softly, while tucking some loose strands of hair behind her ear with her free hand. "i decided..." she let her smooth hand slip cautiously into his. "that you malone boys really know how to show a girl like me a good time." she bit her lip, and a shy grin appeared on her face.
