so, these aren't just rules. jacqui, sav, and ellen (hereafter known as "we", of course :D), have come up with a new philosophy on what we think writing (and therefore roleplaying) should be about. so, though this will be a very advanced site, where we expect you not only to be active and experienced as a roleplayer, but also a good writer, (the first passcodewordthing is city) you won't have the rules you've had at every other advanced site around. there are two ideas our philosophy are built around.
the first: every person has a story, and therefore so does every character. our application is rather short, and we don't ask for much detail anywhere except in the history portion. we ask for around one thousand words (or more) of history, but before you flip out and hit the red X, hear us out. everything a character is comes from his or her history; a person is built by what he or she has experienced. so it's understandable for us to want so much history. and besides, the time you spend on our "strenuous~" application will be made up later in the lessened time it will take you to post.(the second wordpasscodedeal is and) this brings us to the second building block of our philosophy.
we don't like a lot of the aspects of what roleplaying has become. we know that being a good writer and telling a story through these threads isn't defined by a 1,700+ word post. basically, we want quality. not quantity. we're tired of wringing the hell out of every single post just to prove we're good writers; writing is about the development of a character, and not how long a post is. (the third.. you know.. is color) we'd like you to re-learn how to say what's going on in a character's head in a 400-800 word post, without restating every aspect of the character's history in the post.
here at philosophy, we're redefining roleplaying. this isn't a movement; it's just what we believe. now, if you're truly advanced, we don't need to go over the other words. finally, the last code word is philosophy. if you just hunted for the code and didn't read through, we'll be able to tell. we're not trying to beat the hell out of you with these, but what we've had to say here is important. so if you skimmed.. go back and read throroughly. we'll be able to tell if you didn't. c:
